FERRARO, May 10. The letters received at Venice from the Levant continue to assure that Prince Heraclius made himself master of the city of Trebisond on the 9th of March last, after a siege of seven days; that his army, which increased daily, and was abundantly provided with every thing, had set itself afterwards in march for Amasia; that it was actually arrived in the province of that name, which borders to the north on the Black Sea; that the Porte, having neither been able to foresee or prevent this blow, had sent the most speedy orders to Smyrna to dispatch from thence, without delay, some gallies, with troops and ammunition, for securing the places on the coasts of Natolia, whither a numerous body of Janizaries had been marched, together with a large train of heavy artillery; that on the other side the Beglierbey of Natolia had also set himself in march, with a considerable corps, for Nicomedia, in order to endeavour, as much as possible, to shut up the Georgians, or at least to check their progress.
