On Friday last the rule to shew cause why a Mandamus should not issue to the Secretary of State to deliver certain commissions of justices of the peace, to particular individuals in the district of Columbia, was argued before the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Lee spoke at considerable length in favor of granting the rule.
The Attorney General said, that he had received no instructions to appear.
The court, when Mr. Lee terminated his argument, observed that they would attend to the observations of any person who was disposed to offer his sentiments.
No decision is yet made by the court.
