Thirty-seven defendants were arraigned before the Rowan County Court during the past week charged with the violation of sixteen separate criminal statutes. The various charges against these defendants were listed as follows:

The defendants appearing before the court during the week were docketed as follows:
Matt McCathran, carrying concealed weapon, 5 months on roads or $100 fine; pistol confiscated and destroyed.
Alex Williams, assault with deadly weapon (2 cases) 5 months on roads or fine of $75.
Dillard Phifer, violation motor laws, costs.
Frank Cox, cruelty to animals, 60 days on roads, upon payment of costs this sentence inoperative and further judgment continued 11 months.
J. L. Reynolds, driving drunk, 75 days on roads or $65 and forbidden to drive car for 4 months.
J. B. Leitzsey, drunk, $15.
Fred Ervin, temporary larceny, nol pros with leave on recommendation of Sheriff Miller.
John Leam, reckless driving, 60 days or $25.
Mildred Cornelison, reckless driving, dismissed.
Troy Whitaker, breaking and entering, remanded back to justice of peace for proper procedure.
John Chandler, violation liquor laws, 3 1-2 months or $85, car confiscated and ordered sold.
Chance Childers, violation liquor laws, 60 days or $25.
Henry Deas, liquor law violation, 40 days or $20.
Lee Russell, liquor law violation, 70 days or $35.
Glenn Beaver, liquor law violation, 90 days or $50.
Joe Taylor, drunk, costs.
Dewey Cauble, drunk, costs.
Leroy Irby, reckless driving, 60 days or $30.
Leroy Ledford, speeding, $15.
Arthur Hix Crowell, James McDaniel, Clay Shepard, Herman Kimball, peeping in bedroom, McDaniel, 15 days in workhouse and further judgment suspended 7 months; Kimball 20 days in workhouse and further judgment suspended 11 months; Shepard, 5 months on roads and further judgment suspended 2 years; Crowell 5 months on roads and judgment further judgment suspended for 2 years.
It appears to the Court that Crowell and Shepard were leading factors in a series of peeping cases which have existed for a period of 2 years.

Von Bridges and Elizabeth Miller fornication and adultery, cont. 7-14-1932.
J. L. (Lewis) Beck, abandonment and non-support, cont. 7-29-32.
W. Dillard Ingraham, embezzlement, cont. 7-8-32.
