You'll e'er this Letter comes to Hand have learnt that Walter Johnstone's Ship, of Portsoy, is cast away and dash'd to Pieces on the Harbour. She was come from London and Newcastle with Goods, and was anchor'd before Portsoy when the Storm began; the Cargo is lost, but the Crew by good Providence got ashore. She was a new Vessel, Burthen 120 Tons. At the same Time a small Sloop was dash'd to Pieces two Miles N. W. of Portsoy; the Crew saved. This Storm has quite demolish'd Portsoy Pier, so that no Boat can enter. Along the Coast we see Heaps of Cod, Haddocks, Lobsters, and other Shell-Fish: The like never known here. We hear of considerable Damage done to the small Craft along the Coast.
