PARIS, Oct. 11. The letters from Spain are filled with the immense warlike preparations making there, though all apprehensions of a war seem to be at an end, which some imagine, that a Spanish packet having been visited by a foreign ship is the occasion of it. The army is to be augmented with 14,000 men, besides the militia.

Oct. 14. Though greater secrecy is observed with respect to affairs in South America, we have certain information that they are by no means in a favourable situation; so that there is very good reason to believe that France will soon join some men of war to the Spanish squadron, in case a restitution is not made by the Portuguese of the possessions they have taken from the Spaniards near the river La Plata, no advice of which has yet been received.
