Full Text

We have been about three weeks studying on the following sentence, which is the opening of the address submitted by Col. Geo. W. Thompson to the reform meeting at Grave Creek. We did not like to submit it to the public until we had tried every possible way to find out what it meant; but we have at length given it up. If any of our readers will render it into English we shall be under great obligations to them.

"Society is the natural relation of man to man, and that therefore all men are, by birth or legal provision, subjects or citizens of their prescriptive governments; and as such have certain respective or legal and constitutional rights, subject to the limitations and extensions authorized by the existing governments, reserving to an oppressed people, as the final resort, a right of appeal by revolution."
