Bluffton college's Expansion and Improvement Fund campaign for $330,000 moved beyond the $40,000 mark this week with receipt of initial reports from the Alumni phase of the drive.
A local community drive recently raised slightly more than $30,000 in cash and three-year promises, and the report from 177 alumni members shows contributions and pledges totaling about $16,000. Some of these, however, were also included in the local drive figures.
The alumni phase of the drive opened October 20 at the Alumni Banquet and will continue until November 10. The executive committee planning the drive includes Roger Howe, '49, president; Irene Smucker, '36, vice president, and Celia Hilty, '36, secretary-treasurer.
The campaign is set up by classes. Designated members of each class are contacting their former classmates personally and by letter.
