WASHINGTON.

San Domingo—Banks' Resolution.

Washington, May 12.—General Banks is said to have prepared a series of resolutions on the subject of San Domingo which he read to the President yesterday morning, and which Grant heartily approved. In these resolutions the desirability of our acquiring San Domingo is based in part on argument that the disposition of the West Indian Islands is to be retained or to pass under the control of stronger governments, either in Europe or in America, and that if the United States does not seize the opportunity to possess them European monarchies will.
