Full Text

WE SHALL FORGET.

Arter it all is past,
Sorrow and mirth.
We shall find peace at least.
Old mother earth
In thy broad bosom blest,
Peace shall be met:
There is Nirvana's rest-
We shall forget!

Naught of the wasted years
Breaks through the gloom:
Savor of bitter tears
Finds not the tomb.
Death binds about the head
Languid and wet,
Steepy dull poppies red-
We shall forget!

With this one solace left,
Fate is disarmed
Hate of her sting bereft,
Malice is charmed.
What ean it matier if
Hope's star has set?
When we are stark and stiff,
We shall forget!
