WHEELING REGISTER
WEDNESDAY MORNING, JUNE 6.

CITY AND STATE NEWS.

Board of Supervisors.

This Board was in session yesterday, most of the day.

Present: Messrs. Hupp. (President) Wilson, Good, Franzheim. Wallace, Wheat, Nichols, Boggs, Claytor.

Report of committee on Fairmont road, was read and adopted.

The tax of Jesse S. Wheat was remitted.

Report of committee on the insurance of public buildings was read and adopted.

Petition of H. A Knapp for remission of tax, was granted. Also, that of D. A Siebert.

A number of bills were ordered to be paid.

The petition of Aug. Miller, to procure license to keep an ordinary, was rejected.

The returns of the late election in this county were then read, and it was ordered that the Clerk of the Board publish an official return of said election.

When the returns from Triadelphia were presented, the Board of Registrars stated, through Mr. Clohan, that persons have been permitted to vote who were not found on the books of the Registrar of that precinct.

Mr. Wilson moved that a committee be appointed to investigate this whole matter, and report to the Board at some subsequent meeting.

Mr. Wheat moved, as a substitute, that the whole returns be declared illegal.

On this question the ayes and noes were taken, with the following result:

Ayes—Messrs. Hupp, Wilson, Boggs, Wheat, Wallace, Claytor, Nichols.—7

Noes—Messrs Franzheim, Salisbury and Good—3.

So the returns from Triadelphia were rejected.

The petition of Norton McSkin, for remission of taxes, was granted.

It was then ordered, that the clerk prepare an official statement of the financial condition of this county.

Adjourned to meet on Thursday, June 14, 1866.
