Capt. Orr of this Place is arrived at Caco Bay in about 35 Days from St. Kitts, in whom came Passenger Capt. Butler who came to Town last Wednesday: by him we are informed, That 18 Ships of the Line, 6 Frigates, 4 Bombs, 2 Fire-Ships, and 60 Sail of Transports with 12,000 Land Forces on board, were arrived at Barbados in about 10 Weeks from England, having put in a Fortnight or three Weeks at Madeira : This News they had at St. Kitts by a Letter from a Gentleman of Credit in Barbados.--It is uncertain what Place they are design'd against ; a Person who arrived there from Guadaloupe and had been taken, affirmed from his own Knowledge, that a great Number of the Inhabitants had built Huts on the Mountains, and removed the most valuable of their Effects there, expecting an Invasion ; and that they were exercising the Negroes in order to defend the Place.--It is thought they may with Ease take Guadaloupe, and that they will then proceed to Martinico.---Upon the Arrival of the Fleet the best Pilots for the Service were immediately procur'd ; and as it is now forty Days since, we hope e're long to give the Publick an Account of the Reduction of Martineco or Guadaloupe.
