Bricker Explains Conservative Bid

WASHINGTON, D. C. - (NNPA) Senator John W. Bricker, Republican, of Ohio, last Thursday sought to clarify the proposal attributed to him of a coalition party of conservative Republicans and Dixiecrats to oppose the Truman Square Deal.

His suggestion, he said, was that conservatives in Congress, without regard to party or sectional lines, unite to fight the trend toward so-

On the matter of civil rights he came out unreservedly for equal treatment of all Americans but declared that reversal of the present trend toward the welfare state was more important than any single piece of legislation.
