A French Captain who came from Bastia Yesterday at Noon is just arriv'd here, and reports, that about 8 o'Clock in the Forenoon, as the Marquis Pazinto de Paolis, Prime Minister and General of Baron Theodore, was going with a Parish Priest, and his most Christian Majesty's safe Conduct, to the General the Count de Boisseux, to lay the Grievances of the Corsicans before him, and to acquaint him of their Resolution to maintain their Engagements with Lord Theodore, they were attack'd just without the Walls of Bastia, by an Out Guard of 100 Genoese, who fired upon them, kill'd the General de Paolis on the Spot, and mortally wounded the Parson, who, however, made a Shift to get back to the Corsicans Camp.
The Captain adds, that when the Count de Boisseux was inform'd of this Affair, he demanded Satisfaction, and then dispatch'd an Express to his Court.

A French Captain reported that Marquis Pazinto de Paolis and a Parish Priest, under safe conduct, were attacked by 100 Genoese outside Bastia walls while heading to meet Count de Boisseux to present Corsican grievances and affirm loyalty to Baron Theodore. De Paolis was killed on the spot; the Priest was mortally wounded but returned to camp.
