BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(SNS)--
Miles College announces the observance of American Education Week, to take place at the institution during the period between Monday, November 7, and Sunday, November 13. Events planned for this week promise to make the occasion one of great significance for the college and the community it serves. The institution hopes to enlist the interest of the entire Birmingham community in problems of education, in bringing to the college outstanding leaders in the education field. Of special significance will be the presentations by President Buell G. Gallagher of Talladega College and President W. A. Bell of Miles College.
Beginning the week's activities will be a consideration of the theme: "Developing Strong Bodies and Sound Minds," with a representative of the Psychology Department of Birmingham Southern College giving the presentation; this program will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, November 7. On Tuesday a symposium on the subject: "Maturing Skills and Techniques," will be rendered, with members of the faculty of the college acting as speakers. On Wednesday the week's events promise to reach a high point, with President W. A. Bell speaking on the significant subject: "Developing Standards and Values." The Thursday and Friday programs will be under the sponsorship of students in the Department of Education and the Educational Research Society.
President B. G. Gallagher of Talladega will bring the week to a close, speaking in the college chapel on Sunday afternoon, November 13, 3:30 p.m.
