According to Bennett Cerf, president of Random House: Quentin Reynolds is putting the finishing touches to his book. "The Curtain Rises." It will deal with his last trip to Russia and conclude with his eye-witness account of the landing at Salerno. It will be published by Random House late in January, sharing headline honors on the spring non-fiction list with a new book by Edgar Snow, author of "Red Star Over China."
Fiction highlights on the new Random House spring list will include "Limit of Darkness," a powerful war novel by Howard Hunt; "Canal Town" by Samuel Hopkins Adams; "The Malfreys" by Catherine Whitcomb; "These Are the Times" by Clare Jaynes; and "Stallion Road" by Stephen Longstreet.
There will also be new murder novels by Mignon Eberhart, Helen Reilly, and Elliot Paul. Paul's yarn, his first Homer Evans mystery in four years, bears the intriguing title "It's Murder, He Says."
"Literary England," with photographs by David Scherman, text edited by Robert Wilcox, and an introduction by Christopher Morley, has been selected as the Book-of-the-Month Club dividend for January and February.
Among local people visiting Consolidated Aircraft Co. last Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Chet Rader and Betty Jean Rader, Mr. and Mrs. Penn Kaanta, Slim Fields, Mrs. E. C. F. Wilson, Mrs. Maude Peterson, Earloyde and Colin Edmonson.
