A Young Girl's Suicide.—Laura Emma Adams, 11 years of age, and eldest daughter of Stephen Adams, of Fairmount, Somerset county, Md., committed suicide by drowning herself on the night of the 15th instant. For a few days prior to the deed she seemed despondent, but no cause was assigned by the family for her depression. At supper she seemed unusually cheerful, and was busy teaching her younger sisters their lessons. A few moments after, as was her custom, she left the room, as the family supposed to retire, and nothing more was thought of her until one of the younger sisters who slept with Emma missed her from her accustomed place. Immediately a search was made, and no clue as to her whereabouts until the following morning was ascertained. A foot print at the water's edge and end of a path leading from the residence was discovered. Boats were at once procured, and after diligent search her body was found.
