Walter Weber, 37, a member of the Rural Co-op Services, Hales Corners, Wis., was electrocuted last month when the dredge he was moving touched a high line. Two days later Howard Severance, manager of the Co-op, was able to deliver to Mrs. Weber a check for $217.68, the amount due under the Co-op patronage group life insurance policy which the Hales Corners association had only recently taken out for its membership.
(The payment represented half of the total of Mr. Weber's purchases from the Co-op in the year preceding his death.)
This was the tenth death claim to be paid to Co-op families in Wisconsin under the Co-op patronage group life insurance plan. Payments have totaled $1,358. To date sixteen local cooperatives have fulfilled requirements enabling them to protect their membership on the group basis.
