COLUMBIA AUTO MARKET.
Saturday morning last it was our pleasure to visit Columbia market on Assembly, two blocks, and to meet some of Lexington's substantial citizens and truck farmers from various sections of this county with loads of country produce fresh from the fields, gardens and orchards, consisting of everything in the vegetable line, fruits, chickens, eggs, butter, etc. It is wonderful to see what supply of everything they have for sale to feed the people of Columbia. Three-fourths of the auto trucks and wagons are from Lexington, and while it is impossible to correctly enumerate, but really they have fresh from their auto trucks and wagons, green corn, yellow peas, sweet and Irish potatoes, beets, onions, carrots, turnips, cabbage, butter and string beans, squashes, cucumbers, tomatoes, okra, apples, peaches and plums of all kinds, watermelons, cantaloupes, and honey, etc. The display of apples and peaches was grand. At the closing hour for sale on the ground, it was almost deserted. We feel proud of our model or successful truck farmers and we know the good people of Columbia appreciate all these necessaries of life furnished by them, still we claim what is good for Columbia is good for Lexington.
