The return judges assembled on Thursday to cast up the general result of the election but in consequence of the poll books being inadvertently locked up in the ballot box the vote could not be ascertained. A petition was prepared to forward to one of the judges to obtain an order from the court to open the ballot box containing the necessary poll books and the judges adjourned to Monday next by which time they expect to have obtained the order and be ready to canvass the returns.
