FAYETTEVILLE, Feb. 28th, 1852.

'A wink is as good as a nod,' to a man who is disposed to know the Pilgrim by his staff.' Your 'red mark' on the last number of the Spirit of the Age reminds me that Pilgrim Gorman is entitled to a staff from me to keep his spirits up. Enclosed is the 'wherewith' again to place me on the 'white' list for another year. The amount is cheerfully paid and coupled with it is my testimony to the fidelity, ability and zeal you have displayed battling in the cause of all mankind.

I hope and trust your paper will be sustained with liberality, and that whilst you are spending your energies in our cause, you may be fully recompensed, not only by the 'Sons' as a body, but by all good men who love temperance, virtue and sound morality.
