THE BURNT DISTRICT—
Operations commenced yesterday morning for the erection of a banking house on the First National Bank lot, corner of Middle and Plumb streets.
Capt. Chas. Richardson, Chas. Knapp and Seward Polister, will rebuild at once on Cumberland street.
Mr. J. Swett has the timber on the ground, and the men at work on a house on the lot occupied by his former residence.
Kent & Collins are at work on Fore St. on a new bake house, &c.
Mr. Billings, will build on Cumberland St., a fine block to run from Franklin street to Quincy Lane.
Taylor & Co. will put up on the Casco House lot, rear of Exchange and Middle streets, the best stable standing in Maine.
J. R. Corey and Vickery & Brown, have leased the Trask property and are putting up two large stores.—[Argus.
