HOLLYWOOD - From his new headquarters in Hollywood, Fla. Syd Pollock, general manager of the Indianapolis Clowns, who will barnstorm minor and major league ball parks with the N. Y. Black Yankees as their opponent this season, comes word of the advancement of eight of his 1955 Funmakers into organized baseball.
In deals worked on during the winter, Pollock has moved first sacker-catcher Roberta Herrera of Havana, Cuba, to the New York Yankees' chain. He is only 17 and rated a big league prospect.
To the Detroit Tigers organization moves Ted Richardson of Orlando, and Jimmy Proctor of Washington, D.C. Both are pitchers and have been assigned to Augusta Club, now training at Lakeland.
Slated to play somewhere in the Milwaukee Braves' organization are outfielders Charlie McCoy of St. Petersburg; Frank Ensley of Grambling, La., last season's captain of the Clowns; and hurler Johnny Wyatt of Buffalo, N. Y.
Pollock originally sold Henry Aaron to the Braves several seasons ago, after this Mobile Ala. youngster broke into Negro baseball with the Funmakers as a shortstop.
Outfielder Erwin Ford of Whiteville, N. C. and hurler-in-fielder Rufus McNeal of Kinston, N.C. will play this season with the El Paso nine of the Southwestern League, completing the roster of players on their way to the big leagues.
