Full Text

Gen. Jackson's Informer—The U. S. Telegraph states that Mr. Buchanan of Penn. is the person to whom Gen. Jackson alluded in his letter to Mr. Carter Beverly, of the 6th June. The Lancaster Journal says, "We have authority for saying that Mr. Buchanan will not act on the presumption that he is the person—He cannot consent to become a volunteer in this business. Should it hereafter become necessary to make any statement upon the subject, Mr. Buchanan will then immediately publish, in detail, the only conversation which he ever held with General Jackson concerning the last Presidential election, prior to its termination. In the mean time we think it right to state, that what we believe to have been the premature introduction of Mr. B's name in the Telegraph, has been without his authority, and against his consent." This is clawing off.
