A Giant or Giants.—The following paragraph from the New York Sun gives an account of a man monster, who, if he answers the description, overtopes the giants of the old tales of the nursery: During his late European tour Mr. St. John, the indefatigable proprietor of Peale's Museum, while in Belgium, with great difficulty and at enormous expense, effected an engagement with a Giant subject of King Leopold, who, in point of size and strength, out Goliahs all modern human specimens of the prodigious. He is between 8 and 9 feet in height, well proportioned in every particular, and of enormous strength—which latter quality he greatly prides himself upon. He can raise from the floor three men of ordinary size hanging to each arm at the same time; and on one occasion he threw a man weighing 170 pounds upon the roof of a two story house. The stories told in Belgium of his feats of strength are almost beyond belief. This monster—for we can call him nothing short of that—will arrive out in the first steam packet which crosses, and will make his debut in America at the Bowery Theatre, where preparations for his reception are already in progress.
