Infanticide.—On Thursday last, the dead body of an infant was found in an old well, on the lot adjoining the premises occupied by William Deas, on Broad street. Upon being informed of the fact, J. K. Witherspoon empannelled a jury of inquest, who, after due investigation, rendered a verdict "that the daughter of Wm. Deas was the mother of the child found in the old well, and that Wm. Deas' wife (Louisa) was an accessory to the transaction." Louisa and her daughter were arrested upon the warrant issued by the acting Coroner, and lodged in jail. All the parties are colored.
