JIMMY WILDE IN CHICAGO AND GETS OVATION
Jimmy Wilde is drawing a lot of attention from Chicago boxing followers. The little Englishman has established training quarters in Chicago for his fight with Jack Sharkey, which is to be decided in Milwaukee on Dec. 6, and daily has a host of friends and well wishers looking on.
Wilde is not working hard as yet, because he says he wants to get acclimated before he puts too much power into his conditioning.
Milwaukee promoters hope to reap a harvest at the Wilde-Sharkey show. Wilde has been guaranteed $11,000 for his appearance, and Sharkey will get about half that amount.
The show, according to Milwaukee sportsmen, will draw in the neighborhood of $50,000. That is not an extraordinary amount for Milwaukee. Billy Papke and Stanley Ketchel fought there before a crowd that paid nearly $50,000, and Ad Wolgast drew $45,000 in Milwaukee for one of his fights. It looks as if the promoters are going to reap as big a harvest as will Wilde.
