A Young Man and His Sweetheart Ruthlessly Denied the Privilege of Matrimony.
That the course of true love does not run smooth, a young man named Walsh is ready to give conclusive evidence.
About one week ago he came here to engage in the picture business. He became acquainted with a young lady of the city and at the same time became enamored of her personal charms. It was a case of "love at first sight," and the young lady said "me too."
After a few days courtship the couple decided to get married. The young man felt so happy over the success of his love making that he hastened to the telegraph office and wired a brother at Lincoln, informing him that he was to be married.
He then called on Justice Lipman and made arrangements to have the judge perform the marriage ceremony.
In the meantime, never suspecting that anything could possibly occur to interrupt their happiness, the brother at Lincoln had gotten busy. He wired the county judge not to issue the license and said that the prospective bridegroom was a minor and that he was his guardian.
About 4 o'clock young Mr. Walsh presented himself at the county judge's office and asked for a license. The judge told him of the telegram and said he was sorry, but he could do nothing for him.
"Why, I was 21 years old months ago and my brother is only 18. If there was to be any guardianship business I guess I'd come nearer being the real thing than that brother of mine," remarked the fellow with some emphasis.
This ended the marriage negotiations and now the young people are planning to get ahead of the meddlesome brother and complete the plans for the carrying out of the only thing that can in any way possibly administer to their happiness.
