Full Text

July 12.

This day, at 4 o'clock, the Merchants of this city, (much to their honor) are to give a Dinner at Lovett's Hotel to Mr. King, our late Minister at the Court of Great Britain, as a tribute of respect and gratitude for the zeal and ability manifested by him on all occasions, in promoting and protecting the commercial interests of his country. No diplomatic character at St. James's was held in higher estimation by the Court to which he was sent than Mr. King; and from his unassuming modesty, private worth and sterling talents, no Minister could and did more effectually subserve the interests of the nation he represented. The splendid and uncommonly elegant preparations making by Mr. Lovett, are suitable to the occasion, and will we presume, surpass in style any public dinner ever given in this city.
