Full Text
We observe with great pleasure the determination and unanimity which pervade the people of Georgia in the organization of the Constitutional Union party for the approaching political campaign. Every mail brings us additional intelligence of the zeal and interest which the movement excites, and there is no reason to doubt that it will be triumphant by a majority of many thousands.
The cordiality (says the Savannah Republican) with which Whigs and Democrats are uniting, and the alacrity with which they are organizing for the fall elections, show how futile are all attempts to organize old parties. The people have taken the guardianship of the Union into their own hands, and they will not permit dishonest politicians to divert them from their purpose by the cry of party. If further evidence were needed to show this, it may be found in the proceedings of a number of counties, which we find in the papers before us.—Republic.
