Friends in Henderson and Vance county and in this section were interested today to learn that Rev. Lonnie B. Reavis, who formerly held several pastorates in this vicinity, has been called to the pastorate of Memorial Baptist church in Temple, Texas, and has already assumed his duties.
Mr. Reavis served as pastor of the North and South Henderson Baptist churches, Carey's chapel and one or two other churches in this county, and several in Franklin.
Shortly after he was married a little more than a year ago, Rev. Mr. Reavis went to Texas to pursue his studies in Baylor University, a Baptist theological school He graduated also at Wake Forest College several years ago. In a letter received today Mr. Reavis wrote:
"I have been called to Memorial church here (Temple, Texas). It is in a growing town of about 25,000 people at the present time. I have a little less than 1,000 members in my church. It has great possibilities. It is considered one of the coming churches of Texas.
I am enjoying my work, but I do miss my old friends so much. I am coming to North Carolina in August."
Mr. Reavis said his friends could contact him by addressing at Memorial Baptist church, Temple, Texas.
