Full Text

Old Trinity.

The latest indications are, that the eminently aristocratic and notoriously mammon-loving church, the old Trinity, of New York, will submit to a compromise with a claimant for the greater portion of its property. The importunate heirs of an old fogy, named Anneke Jans, have had audience with the Trinity agent, and the result is reported—Trinity is counting down; and, as there is only the value of $200,000,000 involved; and, as it is concluded that the Jans' heirs have the "papers" on mercenary Trinity; and that Trinity has, philosophically and gracefully, agreed to submit to what cannot be helped, the prospect is now quite flattering that the settlement will be made of the matter, outside of Court litigation and steep lawyers' fees.
