SPIRITUAL LAWS CAN ACCOMPLISH
WHAT CIVIL LAWS CANNOT DO

ROMANS, chapter 8, took on new significance as we thought on it during our devotions recently. God's truths seem to take on deeper meaning when one is in the spirit and attitude of prayer.

"For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. For those who live by the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace." vs. 3, 5, 6.

Since the human family was created with a spiritual nature as well as physical one, the constant struggle of the flesh with the spirit makes each human life a battle ground. Development of our spiritual natures can answer our human problems. With the Spirit of God triumphant in our personal lives, we find joy and happiness and peace, no matter what the circumstances of the flesh.

With the Spirit of God controlling our community and national life, we are assured it can accomplish what the law of our land can not do.

Civil laws are necessary to govern human actions. Even they are based on Spiritual laws, namely the Ten Commandments; but these laws while they afford a measure of justice and security, can not bring about peace and understanding in human relations. Civil laws do not change the heart of man, whereas the Spiritual laws give maturity, strength of character, power to overcome prejudices and take away greed and selfishness.

How it does behoove us today to cultivate our spiritual potential. Support your church, your schools, your hospitals and institutions of mercy. These are the results of Spiritual forces.
