DEBS TO LEAD SOCIALISTS.
Will Assume Political Activity at National
Convention in April.

CLEVELAND, March 6—Eugene V.
Debs, three times presidential candidate
on the Socialist ticket, will return
to active leadership of that party at the
national convention here April 29 to
May 2 it was announced at the state
convention of the Socialist party here
Saturday.

It was in this city that Debs was sentenced to the federal prison at Atlanta
for his war time utterances. Since his
release from that prison a few months
ago he has been resting at his home in
Terre Haute, Ind., in an effort to improve
his health. Delegates to the convention stated

This year and next will see the So-
cialist party more active than at any
time since the war, it was stated.
A complete state ticket was named
to be voted on at the November election.
