Royal Amusements at Vienna.
In the Paris papers we have some curious
details of the parties of pleasure given at Vi-
enna, to the royal visitors, and other illustrl-
ous characters present in that capital. The
long expected sledge-party took place on the
twenty-second of January. There were four
and thirty sledges all in a row. The five
first contained the Sovereigns, each escorting
an illustrious female personage; the others
were arranged by lot. We find number 19,
Prince Eugene Beauharnais conducting the
Countess Nogarolle: 21, Archduke Charles
with Countess Esterhazy; Count Francis Zechy
with Lady Castlereagh; and 32, Prince Ester-
hazy with Lady Radcliffe. The grave char-
acter of diplomacy forbade, we suppose, the
appearance of the negotiators in this galloping
party, for we cannot find the names of any one
of them in the long list. The carriages and
the entire set-outs were very splendid; the
cavaliers and the ladies were superbly dress-
ed. Having paraded the streets of Vienna,
the party drove to the palace of Schoen-
brunn, where a splendid dinner was prepared.
In the evening, the Opera of Cinderella was
performed, with some Ballets prepared for the
occasion. At the close, the party returned to
the palace at Vienna by torch light.
