TRAFFIC SUSPENDED.

Yesterday at about 12 o'clock a Warren and Bristol suburban on the west side of the bridge and a "Snake line" car on the east side were both off the track at the same time. Traffic was held up both ways for nearly a half an hour while the crews of the cars were trying to coax them back on the rails.

Finally the Fall River car was put upon the irons again, but the Suburban was a more difficult proposition. After trying every scheme which presented itself the car was backed up to the draw, which was swung to correspond with the position of the truck which had jumped the iron. The car was then backed upon the draw, which was returned to its usual position and the car proceeded without further difficulty.

Story Details

Two streetcars derailed simultaneously on opposite sides of a bridge, halting traffic for nearly 30 minutes. The Fall River car was realigned easily, but the Warren and Bristol suburban required backing onto the swung drawbridge to reposition its truck before proceeding.
