Full Text

We were present last evening at the trial of the California Fire Proof Paint Company's paint. The exhibition took place in front of Temple Block, and in the crowd of interested spectators we noticed Wallace Woodworth, William Lapierre, T. E. Rowan, Myron H. Kimball, C. Raphael, Walter S. Maxwell, Aug. Brassmer, C. E. Timber, several insurance agents and many prominent citizens. Mr. Miller, the agent of the company, produced a small section of ordinary roofing that had received two coats of the paint, and after igniting a fire poured pint after pint of kerosene oil on the fierce flames. The piece of roofing was subjected to this most severe test for about thirty minutes, and upon examination it was found that the wood was not even charred. It has been stated that frame roofs coated with this paint will withstand a greater degree of heat than tin roofs, and after last night's experience we are inclined to believe it. The company's paint is endorsed by the leading insurance companies doing business in the State, and we think it might repay our property owners to investigate its merits.
