Full Text
The house of representatives of that state, in order, as it is said, to defeat the ends of justice, have passed a bill for the removal of the prisoner to Harrison county, for trial, which was sanctioned by the Senate, with an amendment, and returned to the house for its concurrence. A Mr. Wickliffe then made a bold and able speech against the bill, which gives a melancholy picture of the morals of the community. and the corruption of the legislature. The publication of this speech has been requested, and notwithstanding its length, it shall be given next week. The fate of the bill, as amended, we have not yet heard.
