The lives of seven hundred and ninety-six persons were saved by the life-boats of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution in England last year.— Twenty-eight vessels were also saved from destruction, and rewards were given for the preservation of three hundred and sixty lives by fishing and other boats, making a grand total of one thousand one hundred and forty six lives saved. In some cases greater danger has been incurred than in others. In some, men have been washed overboard from the boats, but recovered again.
