Will Be On Display At Columbus During Farmers' Week.
The newspaper man and his product will play a large part in the coming Farmers' Week, to be held on the campus of the Ohio State University from Jan. 29 to Feb. 2, inclusive.
The College of Agriculture takes the view that good newspapers are as necessary to a farming community as banks, schools and churches, and that the public ought to know more about their papers, and to support them better. With this in mind, the aid of the department of commerce and journalism has been enlisted and a Community Newspaper Show has been added to Farmers' Week program. The show will be held in Room 106 of Townshend Hall, the main building of the agricultural group, throughout the week.
Three cases are provided for weekly and semiweekly papers, and one class each for dailies published in cities of less than 50,000, and for metropolitan dailies. Weekly and semiweekly papers entered on the show and exhibited will be placed as to news, editorials and make up. Small city dailies will be judged as to local farm, home and community news, and metropolitan papers as to farm pages or departments.
As trophies prizes awarded-tokens made up as line-cuts so that winning papers may wear their honors in the issue following the award. Bristow Adams of Cornell University will be the judge, and will explain his decision to a conference of editors and correspondents on Monday afternoon, Jan. which has been designated as "Community Newspaper Day" of Farmers' Week.
