The Morehouse Maroon Tiger faces the assignment tomorrow night when the team with the mighty Fort Benning Reception Center Tigers, under the floodlights at Ponce de Leon Park. This tilt will begin at 8:15 o'clock.
The crack Army eleven chalked up a convincing, 15-0 victory over MacDill Field, Tampa, Florida, last weekend, and will be fighting to maintain its unbeaten record. Captain Charles R. Houghland, Fort Benning mentor, realizes that all winning streaks come to an end at sometime so he will open up against the smooth-clicking Maroon machine.
Meanwhile, Head Coach Vernon Smith, and his assistants, Harold Finle, Marshall Arnold and Ernest Dixon are confident that the Maroon Tigers have reached their stride and will be able to match the brilliant array of stars on the service team in every department of the game.
ARMY BACKS HARD TO STOP
The major problem facing the Morehouse forward wall is to stop the fleet Army backs. The starting backfield will comprise four veterans from the 1943 Service League championship team, namely, Macon Williams, Leo Harrison (Florida), Louis Crevs and Nathaniel Smith (Alabama A and M). Slated for action on the Reception Center line are Lawrence Gaines, H. Lee, Richmond Burrell, Stanford Smith, Urel Martin, Arthur Lacey and Donice "Skin" Harris. Among the capable replacements are James Williams, Bruce Mackay, John "Honey" Smith, James W. Hart, William Turner.
