LANCASTER, February 9.
On Saturday last, the gentlemen who compose the Lancaster Troop of Horse assembled at Mr. Slough's, agreeably to appointment, in complete uniform, to celebrate the happy issue of the late expedition against the western insurgents, and to evince unequivocally, their continued attachment to a Constitution under which the United States have prospered and grown into consequence; and their abhorrence of all combinations or associations of men; who, by secret machinations, or open violence, would wickedly attempt to subvert it. The troop was favoured with the company of a very large number of respectable citizens of this borough and its neighbourhood. A splendid dinner was provided for the occasion ; a perfect unanimity of just sentiments prevailed, and the day was closed with that harmony and order which always characterize good citizens.
After which the following toasts were drank by the company—
1st. The Constitution and Laws—
2d. The People of the United States --may they never slumber when their rights are invaded, nor ever encroach on those rights they have delegated.
3. The President of the United States—may he long continue to guide the helm of government with his usual fortitude and patriotism.
4. The National Legislature-may they be chosen with wisdom and treated with confidence.
5. The Governor and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
6. May every self-created society. whose aim is to disseminate suspicious jealousies among our citizens, and accusations of the government, be for ever discountenanced by the Republicans of this country.
7. The blessings of Peace, Liberty and good Government to the French Nation.
8. The oppressed patriots of Poland -may they rise above the calamities which at present surround them ; and finally restore Liberty to their country."
9. General Wayne and the Western Army.
10. Mr. Jay-may the event of his embassy give additional prosperity to the United States , &add one more testimony of the enlarged and enlightened policy of the government.
11. Alexander Hamilton-may his domestic felicity be equal to his public services.
12. May the event of the late insurrection prove to the world that the militia of the United States are always ready to suppress insurrections and repel invasions; and be a lasting monument of the virtue efficiency and ability of our Republic.
13. Agriculture, commerce and manufactures-may each advance the others and all promote the public good.
14. The members of the troop absent on public duty.
