Poems.
Mr. O. F. Whitney, local editor of the Deseret Evening News, has just had published at the News office, a couple of poems from his pen. They are "The Women of the Everlasting Covenant" and "The Land of Shinehah," both of a semi-historical and semi-imaginative character. They evidence a great deal of ability and one may recognize in them considerable of the style of "Iago," when that gentleman wrote his well-known letters to this paper. They are, taken all in all, perhaps the finest poems written here for many a day, and will afford both pleasure and profit to readers, and will well repay a perusal.
