ESCAPED JAIL.—Three prisoners escaped from the jail the evening of the 2nd, about 8 o'clock. Their names are Burrell Davenport—committed by a Trial Justice under charge of cow-stealing—Joe Sheppard, charged with stealing a mule, and—Williams who had threatened to maul his father-in-law, and was committed for default of a bond to keep the peace—all colored. The Jailor's account is that they cut through the cell, came down stairs and jumped out a window. It is rather remarkable that the Newberry jail, one of the best in the State, cannot hold its prisoners. There is fault somewhere. The Deputy Sheriff caught Joe Sheppard Wednesday.
