It is currently reported here that the British have within a few days past captured and sent into Kingston, the U. States ship of war Oneida in Lake Ontario. Mr. Frederick Miller, of this town, has been appointed Major Commandant of the forces at Block Rock. Colonel Swift has taken command at Lewiston. (General Porter arrived in town on Saturday; and we understand, immediately sent an express to Canandaigua to expedite with all possible dispatch the arms ammunition, deposit in the Arsenal of that place, to Buffalo. Several companies of Militia of General Hopkins' brigade have been ordered on august to Block Rock.

The schooner had 3 men and a boy; boats had 40 men. Crew released next day. Rumor of British capturing U.S. ship Oneida in Lake Ontario and sending to Kingston. Appointments: Frederick Miller as Major at Block Rock; Swift at Lewiston. Porter arrived, expedited arms to Buffalo; militia to Block Rock.
