Full Text
The Statesman.-We see by the last number that Mr. R.S. Stith has withdrawn from this paper, and that the establishment is to be removed to Greenwood, on the Yazoo, where it will be continued by Mr. E. L. Travis. We should be thought insincere were we to express any regret at the removal of our neighbor. We wish him much pecuniary success in his new location. Greenwood is destined to be the most important town on the Yazoo; there are already some twelve or fifteen mercantile houses, some of which do a heavy business, and the establishment of a press will be of much benefit in making known its advantageous position. Large class steamboats trade from Greenwood to New Orleans an average of six months in the year. With a newspaper, and a good road through the swamp, the Landing will soon be "a place."
