Board of Education Given Authority to Purchase Block One of Ferring's Second Addition
The school election held Monday evening proved almost a unanimous endorsement of the proposal to give the Board of Education authority to purchase Block 1 of Ferring's Second Addition located in the east part of the city. The vote resulted in 373 yes and 16 no, a total of 389 votes cast and counted. The Board of Education apparently will proceed with the purchase of the property. A meeting of this body will be held within a few days when definite steps will be taken as to the purchase. A bond issue may be voted at a special meeting to be called which bond issue may include both the site and the new building.
The judges at the election were Supt. Geo. O. Brohaugh and Martin Blomquist, members of the Board of Education. Atty. Geo. H. Otterness served as chairman of the election board. Tellers were A. O. Forsberg and Joel Thunstedt. C. F. Olson, secretary of the Board of Education was clerk at the election.
Ballots were cast from eight until nine o'clock in the evening. The number of ballots cast was a gratifying surprise and demonstrated the active interest of the voters in this school problem.
