Of the counties and boroughs sending Delegates to the State Legislature, the Whigs have gained 10 and lost 10, as compared with the Spring vote. The result leaves the Legislature to stand as it is, unaffected—the Whigs having the majority. The Legislature, which meets in December, will elect two Harrison men to the Senate of the U. S., and it will not be competent for the Van Buren party, in any manner, to instruct them. They will be sustained above the reach of Federal Loco-foco influence.

The Whigs have lost the majority in two State Senatorial Districts, Botetourt and Louisa, and gained in two—Kanawha and Pittsylvania.

It has been a drawn game in Virginia. The Van Buren Federalists have the electoral vote, probably by a small majority. The Harrison Republicans have the moral victory. Many honest men have been humbugged, Mr. Ritchie's protestations to the contrary notwithstanding. They have been made to believe that Gen. Harrison is an abolitionist, and that a servile insurrection would follow his election, and that he would sell the whites into slavery. But all this ridiculous humbuggery will soon vanish, and those who have been deceived by the Federal Demagogues, will turn against the imposters in less than a twelve month. We shall sweep the State in the Spring.—Mark that.
