Honorable Mention Won By Lura Peck In Poster Contest

Lura Peck, seventh grader in the Seward school won an honorable mention in the Territory-wide Alaska Education Association's "Vacation in Alaska" poster contest this month.

First and second prizes, as well as 6 honorable mentions went to Fairbanks school children.

The contest was sponsored by the Alaska Visitors Association, and it is the secret hope of each contestant that his entry may be used at some future date in the AVA's advertising—that is just what probably will happen.

The four prize winning entries along with the honorable mentions will compose the Alaska Education Association's exhibit at the convention of the NEA in San Francisco in July, where about 3000 visiting teachers are expected to see the display.

Lura Peck is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Mahan of this city. Her artistic ability is increasingly evident. This week Lura dressed the north window in McMullen's store. It is a garden scene, lushly green and inviting.
