Mr S. F. Belknap, of Concord, one of the largest railroad contractors in the country, had business dealings with George Miller, and from time to time gave him promissory notes; from which notes Miller manufactured an immense batch of forged paper. Some of it is so well executed that Mr Belknap himself cannot tell the good from the bad!
Miller was an operator in stocks, and is said to have lost $60,000 by recent speculations; so that he could not have carried away a great deal of money with him. He has a family residing at Waltham, whom he informed when he left them on the 26th ult., that he was in trouble.
