Full Text

Ts—The Duke of Alba, who got into trouble with young Mr. Soule, for some disparaging remarks upon the dress of Mrs. Soule, at a ball in Madrid, has apologized for the offence. At first the Duke refused to consent to give redress in either way, upon the plausible pretext that his adversary was in reality urging on a political quarrel. But the story is now that public opinion having declared itself unanimously against him, as is not astonishing in a country renowned for the chivalrous respect which it has always paid to beauty, the Duke settled the matter by giving the apology demanded.
